Luxury Of Loneliness

Gabrielle Tolliver’s First Solo Exhibition

Luxury of Loneliness explores the paradox of loneliness—not as isolation, but as individuality. We exist in proximity, yet no two people can ever truly occupy the same space. This realization isn’t a burden; it’s a luxury. In a world that pushes us to fit molds, to follow blueprints, to be echoes of someone else, my art pushes back. It celebrates the unrepeatable—what it means to be singular, to be one of one.

These works investigate the tension between connection and selfhood, the space between belonging and being. They seek to highlight the beauty in standing alone—not as an outsider, but as an original. In a time when voices are being silenced, when the song of truth is stripped away, this work seeks to reclaim that melody. My art is a resistance, a recognition, and a reminder: being one of one is not isolation. It is power.
